Family Tree, Genealogy, or Ancestry Research: it's all the Same!

Family Tree research as is commonly known, is more formally known as research for ancestry, ancestors, and genealogy (from the Greek for study of family). Professional ancestry researchers abound, many of them are really good, some are not.

FamilySearch.org

This website, with free search and link to ancestors is amazing. And everything is absolutely free. Run by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (the "Mormons"), it is a vast collection of genealogical data where you are sure to find many of your ancestors linking back a few, to several, generations.

FamilySearch.org is the first place you want to start once you have identified the ancestor you want to start researching.
